Rollerblading & Rollerskating Lessons in Brisbane

Lessons are available by appointment on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays early mornings or late afternoons / evenings after work. Saturday and Sunday slots book out quickly. The area where we teach is well lit. Send us a booking request SMS (text message) early to avoid disappointment.

Although other venues are available around Brisbane we prefer for you to take your first lessons at Hamilton (near Portside) due to the availability of an undercover area in the event of rain. Some lessons are now available during the weekdays adjacent USQ Springfield Campus / Orion.

What Will I Learn?

We teach according to the Instructor Certification Program International (ICP) syllabus covering stopping, moving and turning. We also teach aggressive skating (ramp, street, park) and slalom / freestyle rollerblading so please advise us at the time of your SMS booking. Lessons are also available on quad rollerskates. Some past students have also become involved in roller derby and slalom competitions after learning how to skate with us. For the less ramp or street inclined, and more recreational / fitness focused perhaps you could make your goal becoming proficient enough to skate at night with the groups Brisbane Bladers and Brisbane Free Sk8. But BEWARE the hills (learn how to stop - WELL) and always wear pads & a helmet! Ask your instructor at the time of your lesson for more details about cityskate, social skates, brekkie skates, slalom lessons, Brisbane's night skating scene and other events. A few lessons before you venture out on Brisbane's streets is highly recommended and we make our lessons fun regardless of your level. Bring a friend!

Group v's Private Lessons

We recommend that if you're new to rollerblading that you try a lesson pack of private lessons or limit your group size. This boosts the quality of your instruction and makes for a more rapid progression. This also makes your rollerblading lesson experience safer. As such, most of our lessons are taught to individuals (1 or 2) or small groups (3 to 5 people) that you organise. So you get at least a 5:1 student to instructor ratio. In our experience larger groups' bookings tend to be more unreliable (insert customer excuse such as Fred and Jo cannot make it, etc) so if you wish to book a lesson for a group of 5 you must organise payment prior to the lesson via EFT or PayPal at least 5 days before. That way even if 2 people in your group failed to show they may be able to still obtain a credit towards a future booking subject to our cancellation policy. We also sometimes run kids birthday parties for small groups.

We maintain a size selection and quantity of Powerslide, Flying Eagle, K2, Rollerblade, Salomon Sports, Roces and other ex-rental inline skates plus excellent protective pads. We also encourage you to bring your own equipment so long as your skates have a working heel brake (unless you are in a slalom or ramps - aggressive inline skating lesson). requires that you wear protective equipment whilst skating. Advise your instructor at the time of sending the booking request whether you'll need us to bring extra equipment (at no extra cost for lesson particpants). Participants agree to wear pads and helmets at all times during the lesson regardless of ability levels. Participants agree to sign a waiver accepting responsibility for their involvement in rollerblading lessons. If you are a competent rollerblader able to use the heel brake we have skate hire.
